Minimally invasive treatments
Minimally invasive, or non-surgical, treatments are common amongst adult women and men of all ages. The most common non-surgical treatments performed by Dr. Longino include SkinPen microneedling, neuromodulators (such as Botox), hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, and Sculptra. Dr. Longino performs these procedures in clinic with numbing medicine.
SkinPen Microneedling
Microneedling is an amazing in-office treatment to improve skin quality and appearance. This is a treatment that actually works. There is minimal to no down-time nor discomfort, and it is safe for essentially all skin types and ages. SkinPen works by creating millions of microscopic cores in the epidermis and dermis during the procedure, which triggers natural skin remodeling without heat or chemicals. As the skin heals after microneedling, it follows a non-inflammatory pathway to increase normal, natural collagen in the skin (not abnormal scar tissue). Importantly, it will not negatively affect any future plans for a face/neck lift.
SkinPen is the first FDA-approved microneedling device and is backed by countless research studies. Dr. Longino offers the newest SkinPen technology - SkinPen Precision Elite. She believes that it is an incredibly valuable part of a regular, comprehensive skin maintenance plan and is confident you will see beautiful, visible results.
Microneedling takes 15-40 minutes depending on treatment areas and is best performed in a series of 3-6 treatments. It may be performed on the face and neck. Mild skin redness after the treatment resolves within approximately 24 hours. It is helpful for the following goals:
Improve skin texture and appearance
Improve appearance of wrinkles
Enhance radiance and evenness of skin
Diminish scars, including acne scars
Neuromodulators
(“Botox”)
Botox may be used for a variety of concerns. Dr. Longino performs a comprehensive facial examination and discusses your goals in order to design the optimal neuromodulator plan. She believes that less can be more - beautiful, natural results may be achieved with just enough Botox in precise areas. The list below provides examples of common areas treated with neuromodulators.
Forehead lines
Frown lines (“furrow” between the brows)
Crow’s feet (eye wrinkles)
Gummy smile
Chin dimples
Neck bands (platysma muscle)
Masseter muscle - jawline narrowing
Masseter muscle - teeth grinding, TMJ syndrome
Temporalis muscle - TMJ syndrome, migraine headache
Facial synkinesis
Filler
Filler is an injectable material that is designed to add volume, diminish wrinkles and scars, and enhance facial contour. Dr. Longino uses a variety of hyaluronic acid-based fillers in her practice, which are temporary and dissolve with time. Duration of effect varies with individual patients, the type and quantity of filler injection, and where it is injected. Most manufacturers suggest that filler lasts anywhere from 8 to 18 months, however some research publications report that filler may last longer - even several years.
Commonly treated areas or reasons to have filler include:
Lip augmentation
Cheekbone augmentation
Tear troughs
Chin
Jawline
Nasolabial folds & marionette lines
Facial asymmetry
Scars
