Deep place face and neck lift
Deep plane face and neck lift
When undergoing facial rejuvenation surgery with Dr. Elizabeth Longino, together you will determine which surgical procedures, or combination of procedures, are best to achieve your goals. In facial rejuvenation surgery, this often involves a face and neck lift.
There are several approaches used by surgeons in facelift surgery, including subcutaneous (“skin-only”), SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) lift or SMAS plication, and Deep Plane. Trademarked facelifts are usually a version of one of these core techniques. For the most dramatic yet natural and durable results, Dr. Longino performs a deep plane facelift and deep neck lift. With this method, the SMAS, a layer of muscle and connective tissue, is carefully elevated and lifted off of the underlying facial structures. This layer is then re-secured vertically and posteriorly, restoring the deeper facial structures to a more youthful position. In a deep structural neck lift, Dr. Longino may manipulate the superficial and/or deep fat, neck muscles and/or small salivary glands to achieve a defined jawline and youthful neck. Limited “delamination” (or elevation) of the skin is performed during this surgery to hasten recovery and optimize results, and excess skin is trimmed at the end of the procedure before meticulously closing skin incisions hidden around the ear.
Some patients may have a surgical drain placed, which is typically removed the morning after surgery. Most patients may have the opportunity to go home or to a local hotel the same day (outpatient surgery), though all patients may elect to stay in a private room with 24-hour nursing care if desired.
